Roadside Appeal Project – Realising our wish list!

With the help of many people an area which the school has not used for a long time was able to be returned to its orginal use and made into a roadside signage area complete with native tree fringe plantings, a rockery garden, the installation of a magnificent new pou, and a safely fenced off stream.

Some key sponsors of the project were Quintech Ltd whose staff completed all of the fencing, contributed materials, eradicated weeds, provided heavy machinery, assisted in the installation of the pou and cleared our waterways of blockages, , the Fonterra Grass Roots Fund contributed $1000 to the cost of fencing materials, Probations who brought out teams of Community Workers and painted, cleaned, weeded, swept and mowed our lawns in preparation for our big day, The Goldfish Corner Shop who mowed the new lawn area the morning before the blessing, local Artist Tony Makiha who carved the magnificent pou, and finally the Waima Puna who donated all of the kai for our Grandparents Day and Blessing catering for around 100 people. A real community effort.

Grandparents Day

A huge thankyou to our Board Chairperson Dallas Williams who worked so hard on this project bringing it all together to enable our school to realise many items on our schools ‘Wish List’ including the design of a new logo (Mano Kingi – Room 2 – whose design inspired our final choice), brochures, business cards, website, new signage, and roadside appeal and last and most importantly brought our community together to share the day with our staff and students for the morning blessing and our annual Grandparents Day.
