Guy Fawkes Gala 2011

Guy Fawkes Gala Night was another chance our school had to host a community oriented event for the families of Waima.

Over the year Uncle Black built up a huge pile of burnable wood that was saved up especially for this day. It was MAGNANIMOUS!

Our students got in groups and designed and made their own guys as a part of the Guy competition being run by the teachers. They were pretty creative too. Some had names, others had clothes on that were recognised by extended family members when they turned up (oops) and all in all it was a night that was shared by many families from our school and the wider community.

Our staff put on some great food stalls so families were able to come to the school and have dinner with everyone and support the school by buying, and brought their own crackers along to light.

Most of the youth played touch on the field while alot of youngees made the most of the pool being open and swan ’till it was dark.

Then Uncle Black lit the fire and the sparklers and crackers came out. It was a beautiful end to a fantastic day all around.
